Caution! If all your license-keys were issued before 2nd September 2006, then this version of PDFing will only work in "un-licensed" mode. Please do not proceed with installation unless you have a license-key issued on or after 2nd September 2006. If you have not yet done so, you should apply your support/upgrade license-key as soon as the installation is complete. If you have not purchased a PDFing license-key since this date, you may renew your support contract in order to receive an upgrade license-key which will allow V4 to run fully licensed, without limitations.

Regrettably, some of our customers running version 1 and using the more advanced features may need to adjust to their markup files. Please check if any of these changes to features apply to you!

When you install PDFing version 4 over an existing v3 or v3.1 installation, the windows installer will ask if you want to remove the existing program files. You should select this remove option and then run the windows installer file again. Provided that you are installing PDFing into the same directory as that used previously, then all your configuration files will be preserved intact and you will not need to re-configure PDFing.

When you install PDFing version 4 over an existing v4 installation, the windows installer will ask if you want to remove the existing program files, and you will be prompted to remove the configuration and queue directories. You must not enter Y or y, unless you are sure that you will not be re-installing PDFing or you have a backup of your existing \Markup directory.

If you are installing version 4 into a different directory or over an existing v1 or v2 installation, follow the steps in the following section.

If you installed version 4 into a different directory, select menu-option [File|Markup] to display the file-open dialog-box, select files of type - all files, then take the following steps:

• Copy file: \PDFing\PDFing.ini (if it exists) and paste it into the list of files in this dialog box.

• Copy all the files in directory: \PDFing\Markup and paste them all into the list of files in this dialog box.

• Copy file \PDFing\Res\Ebcdic.txt (if it exists) and paste it into the list of files in this dialog box.

• Close the dialog box.

• Change the target and start in values of any shortcuts on the desktop or start menu.

• If you run PDFing as an NT Service program, you will need to un-install the previous version and then install the new version.
